TWO teenage girls had their pony tails chopped off for children battling cancer.

The 14-year-olds donated their locks to the The Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs for girls and boys who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Heath School pupils Toni Carter, from Victoria Road, and Charlotte Thornhill, from Weston Point, also raised more than £300 for Halton Haven Hospice.

Toni’s mum, Jayne said: “Charlotte’s dad, Tony went to the haven and died a couple of years ago.

“The girls wanted to help children with cancer and raise money for the hospice. I am extremely proud of them.

“They both had quite long hair. Tony has very thick naturally curly hair and decided to have it cut very short. She said: ‘It’s just hair, it will grow back.’”

They had their hair cut at Athina Hair Design in Church Street.
