THE search is on to recruit 100 new police officers across Cheshire.

To bring Cheshire Constabulary in line with other professions, the force has accepted the College of Policing recommendation that applicants must have or be willing to attain the certificate in knowledge of policing (CKP) when applying to be a police constable.

In previous campaigns, applicants were required to hold the CKP before being eligible to apply. However, in order to recruit such a large number of officers, the constabulary has reconsidered their current eligibility criteria and will be accepting applications from candidates who are either currently working towards, or are willing to work towards the attainment of the CKP.

Candidates must be able to achieve the qualification prior to final offers of employment being made on December 22, 2014.

Due to the implementation of the CKP, Cheshire Constabulary has also reviewed the search assessment centre pass mark to align it with the national pass mark of 59 per cent. Therefore, anyone who has achieved a search result of 50 per cent or more within the past 12 months is now eligible to apply, subject to meeting the minimum eligibility criteria of the CKP.

Cheshire Constabulary has a strong commitment to equality and diversity and strives to employ a workforce which is representative of the communities which it serves. Applicants are welcomed from all underrepresented groups and support will be made available throughout the recruitment process.

Please e-mail any questions you may have in relation to equality & diversity or any reasonable adjustments you may need to positive.action@cheshire.pnn.police.uk.
