FIFTY daredevil fundraisers will be abseiling 331ft down Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral to raise money for Widnes and Runcorn Foodbanks.

The team includes Farnworth CE Primary School head teacher Jackie Stillings, teachers, shop workers from Tesco and the PoundBakery, teenagers, pensioners and Widnes vicar Lyn McIver.

The fundraising event on Saturday, August 9 coincides with a family fun day on the theme of the First World War, from 8am to 8pm. Attractions include a vintage fair, live music, funfair.

The abseil will run from 4.30pm to 7pm.

Farnworth mum-of-four Clare Bedford, aged 44, volunteer project manager for Widnes Foodbank, said: “We’ve had a great response. We are really grateful to everyone who has volunteered to join us.

“We are so pleased that people are continuing to support the foodbanks.”
