IT is a bittersweet moment as a newly-wed when you put your wedding dress away knowing its job has been done.

But one woman has decided to let former brides live it up in their perfect dress one more time - all in the name of charity.

Kym Lawson has set up the Winter Wedding Ball, where brides can relive their special day in their special outfit.

Kym, of Victoria Road, Runcorn, said: “I got married about three years ago and I know a lot of my friends have been married in the last five years.

“I just thought it was terrible these beautiful dresses never see the light of day again. I thought it would be a fun night to see how many brides we could get together for a good cause.”

And if you have yet to tie the knot fear not as the ball is also open to those in their bridesmaid dresses or wedding guest outfits complete with hat.

“I have had a really good response, everyone has been thinking that would be a fun night,” added the 32-year-old council worker. “I thought if I did it I could do it for charity too.”

The night will see money raised for Cancer Research UK and Halton Haven Hospice.

The Winter Wedding Ball will take place on Saturday, October 18, from 7pm at the Masonic Hall, York Place in Runcorn.

Tickets cost £20 and this will include entry into a prize draw.
