A WIDNES tenant said she feels ashamed to bring visitors to her home because of the ‘squalor’ of her flats.

Stacy Allen, aged 23, of Arley Drive, Hough Green, said: “It is the dirtiest block you have ever seen.

“I’m outraged. It is just dreadful. It looks like people have rubbed excrement and blood on the walls.

“Windows are smashed and there are holes in the roof.

“It’s getting worse.

“We haven’t even got bins because vandals have set fire to them.

“There is half a wall where the bins used to be kept. Kids are throwing the loose bricks at windows.”

Stacy, who has just completed a two-year media make-up course at Riverside College hopes to get a job in TV or film.

She has lived in her second floor flat for three years and is reluctant to leave her because she has invested a lot of money in her home.

Stacy added: “I am sick of complaining. It’s embarrassing bringing anyone back.

“I’ve put so much into decorating my place, I don’t want to move.”

A spokesman for Halton Housing Trust said: “Our estates management team is aware of a number of issues with regards to cleanliness of the block's exterior. They have a number of jobs scheduled in over the next week or two, one in particular is to clean up the drying area.

“The brick wall was removed last week because it was unsafe and the windows have also recently been made safe.

“Decisions on how to make improvements such as  build a new store or replace windows are currently ongoing as the incidents were very recent.

“There are a number of issues with regards to fly tipping and there is an ongoing investigation as we have been unable to prove who the culprits are.

“ The environmental services team regularly check and remove any items left. Yesterday morning they picked up a three piece suite that had been left.

"The repairs have been reported and dealt with except for the blood which hasnt yet been reported.

“There is also an outstanding repair for a wall which is scheduled for October 10.

“That particular property has had a number of large scale improvements over the past six years including a rewire, new kitchen, new boiler, new windows and a new front door.”

Stacy added: “There is a sign asking us not to leave prams or bikes in the hallway so we don’t chip the paint work. They’re having a laugh as the walls haven’t had a lick of paint for years.”
