A MASKED bandit tried to rob a post office in Widnes.
The man startled staff at Bechers in Hough Green shortly before 10am yesterday, Monday, October 20.
He demanded cash, asking staff to put money in a carrier bag he had with him, but fled empty-handed.
Sgt Neil Edgar of Widnes Neighbourhood Policing Unit said: “He made no threats and had no weapons.
“He just asked for money and ran off when he didn’t get any.”
The man left on foot turning right out of the premises and down a path.
The man was wearing a black mask, gloves, a green jacket and blue trainers. He spoke with a local accent.
He was between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall and aged between 20-30.
