RESIDENTS enjoyed a free tea dance at a Widnes school.

Sixty guests were served afternoon tea at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic College and waltzed and quick stepped round the hall to a selection of their favourite ballroom tunes.

Music was provided by Steve Sound and students.

Organiser and PE teacher Nick Buckton said: “It was a chance for people in our community to get to know the college better whilst having a good time.

"They were able to foster friendships, improve their fitness and have fun.

“We are well known for looking after the community. This is just one way we want to give back.”

This is the first of a series of special events to forge closer links with the community.

Alan Bell, a member of the college’s community cohesion team, said: “The smiles on the faces of all those who attended told the story of the event’s success.

“A lovely afternoon was enjoyed by lovely people.”
