CHILDREN were fascinated to meet one of the oldest residents in Widnes.

Pupils at West Bank Primary School celebrated their good Ofsted inspection by inviting their elderly neighbours to a celebration.

Guest of honour was 101-year-old Marjorie Fallon.

The youngsters spoke to the older generation about their past.

The choir entertained the visitors.

Children then served afternoon tea.

Head teacher Karen Highcock said: “Many memories were shared between the old and young generations about their experiences of West Bank School and how it had changed from past to present.

“We would like to say a special thank you to Joyce Cowley and Ann Smith from the community for the wonderful buffet they provided.

“Due to the success of this get-together, we look forward to holding many more similar events in the future.”

Ofsted graded the school good in all areas, commending teachers and governors for leading it out of special measures in record time.
