Hospital staff at St Helens and Whiston hospitals have rated their trust as the best acute trust in Cheshire and Merseyside in the National NHS staff survey 2014.
Ann Marr, chief executive said “It is fantastic to know that our staff rate their own trust as the best acute trust to work for in Cheshire and Merseyside.
“Even more important, they would recommend the trust to family and friends if they needed treatment themselves.
“Our staff work really hard to deliver consistently high standards of care.”
The trust achieved the highest scores across a range of measures including:
• Percentage of staff feeling satisfied with the quality of work and patient care they deliver
• Agreeing feedback from patients is used to make informed decisions in their department
• Staff recommendation of the Trust as a place to work or receive treatment
• Reporting good communication between senior management and staff
• Effective team working
• Overall staff engagement
• Job satisfaction
When staff were asked if they would recommend the trust as a place to work, agree that patient care is the organisation’s top priority, and if a friend or relative needed treatment would they be happy with the standard of care provided by the hospitals, their responses resulted in the highest scores for any acute hospitals in Cheshire and Merseyside.
