A TALK is being given about a chemical product which is made in Widnes and used every day.
Neil Grant, a development chemist from BYK Additives is the guest speaker at Widnes SciBar at 7.30pm on Wednesday, July 8 in The Hillcrest Hotel, Cronton Lane.
He will be talking about laponite, a versatile synthetic clay which is used in products such as toothpaste and spray cleaners.
It is believed the name came from the chemical manufacturer Laporte which used to operate at the top of Moorfield Road.
