STAFF at a Runcorn opticians have raised £350 for Blind Veterans UK.

Specsavers celebrated 100 years of the charity’s work helping blind ex-Service men and women by fundraising in the store.

They rode an exercise bike from 10am to 4pm and sold homemade cakes.

They also donated £1 from every sight test towards the fund.

Store director Chris Graham said: “I would like to say a big thank you to our generous customers for helping us to raise a fantastic £350.

“The charity is currently supporting more than 4,000 blind veterans and with our help, they hope to reach their target of recruiting 700 new beneficiaries in the coming year.”

Blind Veterans UK was founded in 1915 and offers support, training and rehabilitation to blind and vision-impaired ex-service men and women.

The charity vows to ensure that all blind veterans have access to the finest quality services to help them discover life beyond sight loss.

“We hope that the partnership will help us to continue to raise awareness and support for the life changing work of the charity in our centenary year.”
