THICK black plumes of smoke filled the sky over Runcorn last night as a tyre blaze ripped through a disused warehouse.
Firefighters suspect the tyres were deliberately torched inside the building in Chadwick Road, Astmoor.
The fire took hold shortly after 9.30pm.
Crews from Runcorn, Widnes, Warrington and Stockton Heath fought the flames
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters found thick black smoke coming from the building.
“Six firefighters in breathing apparatus used three hose reel jets to extinguish the fire which also affected the roof of the building.
An aerial platform was also used to extinguish the blaze.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Cheshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
