A DREAM is set to come true for a schoolgirl when she walks out onto hallowed turf tomorrow.

Tennis player nine-year-old Hannah Rylatt, who trains is Widnes, will play a two-hour mini tournament at Wimbledon on Saturday.

She is one of six girls selected from across the country to perform in a junior tennis exhibition match at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

Her coach, Tony Green, aged 67, from Widnes Tennis Academy, said: “It is the chance of a lifetime.

“To walk on the grass at Wimbledon and hit a ball is something dreams are made of.”

He said he is looking forward to watching her play at the top sporting event.

Tony, who has coached for 24 years, believes she has great potential.

He added: “This is a fabulous experience for her.

“She is a great athlete. She is really quick and a real treat to teach because she practises everything.

“She is absolutely committed and puts a lot of time in.

“If she carries on the way she goes now I am really hopeful she could make the national squad next year.”

Hannah, from Rainhill, started playing when she was six after watching Wimbledon on the television.

She is now on a Lawn Tennis Association training programme and plays tournaments every weekend.

Her parents, Mirelle and Martin and 11-year-old sister, Holly can’t wait to see her fulfil her lifetime ambition.

Martin said: “Her coach Tony is brilliant. All that he has done has helped her to get where she is now.

“She is competing against the best in the country.

“She practises for seven hours each week and loves it.

“We encourage her but we don’t push her. It’s a dream she has.”

The family has VIP passes to watch her.

Hannah will be playing on court 4 between 11.30am and 1.30pm on Saturday, July 4 in front of the crowd.

Her mum Mirelle said: “It is a fabulous achievement. We are so proud.”

Widnes Tennis Academy in Highfield Road is holding an open day from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, July 4.

Anyone is welcome to call in to meet the coaches and try their hand at tennis.
