NINE suspects from Runcorn and Widnes have been charged with supplying heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis around Halton.

Eight men and one woman appeared at Halton Magistrates Court on October 1 on a number of drugs offences in and around the Ditton area of Widnes.

Their charges include possession of a prohibited weapon.

The suspects were arrested following a six month police investigation.

The investigation, Operation Waterscape, was launched due to the number of complaints and incidents reported by the community involving anti-social behavior, violence and threats of violence.

The defendants arrested on July 15 include Scott Smith, aged 26, of Brookdale, Widnes, Victoria Galloway, aged 31, of Birtly Court, Widnes, Keiron Blair, aged 23, of Downside, Widnes, Paul Remedios, aged 30, of Deansway Widnes, Jordan Ferns, aged 21, of Peelhouse Lane, Widnes, Michael Loughran, aged 26, of Bournemouth Close, Runcorn, Tyrone Grimes, aged 19, of Smyth Road, Widnes, Andrew Hughes, aged 47, of Bechers, Widnes and Steven McCarton, aged 24, of Irwell Lane Runcorn.

They are next due to appear at Chester Crown Court on October 12.
