HALTON residents are invited to join the Wirral Coastal Walk to help combat the UK’s biggest cancer killer.

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is appealing for 35 volunteers to join their fundraising event on Sunday, June 12.

Statistics reveal that 122 people are diagnosed with lung cancer each day in the UK.

The charity hopes to have 122 people doing the 15-mile walk and hope that people in Runcorn and Widnes can help them to reach this target.

Jack Miller, the charity’s director of fundraising, said: “We are the only charity in the UK wholly dedicated to beating lung cancer.

“It is a great opportunity for us to start making people aware of the statistics and the Wirral Walk is a great opportunity for Runcorn and Widnes residents to help us to do that.”

The registration fee is £5 per adult and £1 per child. This is given to the rotary club who distribute the money to charities.
