A CANCER charity is appealing for more volunteer therapists.

Widnes and Runcorn Cancer Support Group offers counselling, hypnotherapy, reflexology and various beauty therapies.

The centre on Alforde Street, Widnes, would like to provide additional therapies such as aromatherapy and massage.

However, the centre’s current therapists are no longer able to provide as many appointments due to the increased demand of their own private practices.

Operations co-ordinator Karen Peters, said “When you are undergoing treatment for cancer or caring for someone close to you who is it’s vital to be able to have a little ‘me time’ to relax and de-stress.

“For many of our members taking the time out for a treatment is the only opportunity they have.

“It would be fantastic to have more appointments available and a greater range of treatments on offer so if anyone feels that they can help us please get in touch.”

Riverside College students offer manicures, pedicures and facials on Fridays during term time.

The centre would like to offer these treatments on other days of the week and during holidays.

Any qualified beauty therapists or manicurists able to help can call the centre on 0151 423 5730 e-mail to info@widnesandruncorncancersupport.org.uk.

The centre opens Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm.
