A RUNCORN schoolgirl had her long locks chopped off to support young cancer patients.
Katie Jones grew her hair specially to donate it to the Little Princess trust which provides real hair wigs for girls and boys who lose their hair through chemotherapy.
The Victoria Road pupil her hair cut in front of the whole school and also raised more than £205 for the charity.
The 10-year-old has already vowed to do it again as soon as her hair grows back.
Mum Sarah, 39, from the old town, said: “Katie is very kind and thoughtful.
“She saw someone doing this on television 18 months ago and decided to grow her hair and donate it.
“She couldn’t wait to have it cut. She was really excited.”
Katie starts at The Grange in September and has four brothers Danny eight, Nicky four, Jamie three and Kodie two.
“She is like a second mum to them,” added Sarah.
“Katie is one in a million. I couldn’t be more proud of her.”
