IT surprised quite a few people when we announced on Monday music legend Elton John was set to play in Widnes next year.
Tickets went on sale this morning to see the multiple Grammy, Brit, Oscar and Tony award winner at the Select Security Stadium on Sunday, June 18 2017.
But if the 69-year-old, who has performed at several of the world’s most recognisable venues including a pair of residencies at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, fancies making a weekend of it in Widnes - here's a few suggestions of things he could do.
1. If the weather isn't great that weekend, Elton, David and the kids can get their skates on at Silver Blades Ice Rink
2. But if the sun is shining, what better spot for a family picnic than Vicky Park
3. And they can feed the swans while they're there too
4. If he's forgotten to pack anything, it's always fun riding the travelator at Tesco
5. And a man known for singing This Train Don't Stop There Anymore will surely love to visit Widnes Station - the spot where Paul Simon's Homeward Bound was written.
6. On the Saturday night we reckon Elton is the sort of person who would enjoy starting in The Imperial before hitting The Establishment for some hands-in-the-air anthems
7. But if he's looking for a bit more quality family time, he need look no further than the Catalyst Science Discovery Centre
8. But let's face it, he's probably going to lose at least half a day trying to navigate his way around the various diversions near the bridge
9. And will just about have time to nip into Marie's Chippy before he has to be on stage
See you in June Elton!
