FOSTER carers have been honoured for the care and commitment they give to children.

A celebration was held to thank families across Halton who look after young people in their own homes.

Foster carers, their own children and youngsters in their care shared a three course meal followed by live entertainment at the Select Security Stadium on September 16.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Halton Cllr Ged Philbin and Ros Wong presented long service certificates ranging from five to 38 years.

Timothy and Louise Miller received a certificate for completing their foster training.

Halton Cllr Tom McInerney, board member for children and young people, said: “We give special thanks each year to our foster carers at our annual awards ceremony.

“It’s one way we can personally let our foster carers know that they are appreciated and that their hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.

“I am filled with pride to learn about the countless achievements of our foster carers and the children they care for”

Some foster carers offer long term care for children while others provide emergency care placements at short notice.

Halton Fostering Team welcomes foster carers from all walks of life.
