A RUNCORN mum has ‘braved the shave’ and quadrupled her target to raise more than £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Care.

Jane Worsell donated six plaits to the Little Princess Trust which provides real hair wigs for children who lose their hair through chemotherapy.

The 35-year-old lost her locks in memory of her mother in law Judith Worsell who died from cancer 10 years ago.

“Since then many other friends and family have either suffered or have lost loved ones to this terrible disease,” said Jane, of Lincoln Close.

“I’m no athlete and I don’t do running but I can do this.”

The civil servant, who has two sons Ben, eight, and Alex, six, was overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity.

“I’m absolutely blown away by all the donations,” she said.

“I’d like to thank everyone for their support.

“It feels very weird now and very cold. I’ve never gone this short before.

“My mum has made me a bobble hat!”

Relatives posted messages as they pledged donations saying: “So incredibly proud of your bravery to such a wonderful cause.

“What a fine example you are to your family especially your boys.”
