TWO casualties were taken to the hospital following a house fire in Widnes.
Cheshire Fire crews from Penketh and Widnes were dispatched to a property on Iris Close in Widnes at approximately 1.07pm after reports of a blaze yesterday, Sunday.
Firefighters entered the property wearing breathing apparatus and were confronted by a fire contained to the kitchen of the premises.
A high-pressure fan was used to clear the smoke in the room and two casualties were rescued from the home.
Both casualties were taken to the hospital for further medical assistance having suffered ‘smoke inhalation’.
A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire Service said: “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished a fire contained to a kitchen.
“A high-pressure fan was used to clear the smoke. Two casualties were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.”
