A WIDNES woman is set to appear in court today, Thursday, charged with attempted murder.

It comes after police rushed to attend reports of a stabbing outside The Venue nightclub in Victoria Square, Widnes, at around 2.30am on New Year’s Day.

Officers from Cheshire Police attended the scene on Monday, January 1, and found a 20-year-old man with serious injuries, who was taken to hospital.

Conor McQuade, aged 43 and of Appleby Walk in Widnes, was later charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident.

He also faced two counts of possessing a bladed article in a public place.

A 20-year-old woman from Widnes was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident and was released on bail.

Now, the courts have confirmed that Charlotte McQuade, aged 20 and of Lancaster Road in Widnes, has also been charged.

She faces an allegation of attempted murder in Widnes on January 1and an allegation of wounding with intent on the same victim on the same day.

She is due to make a first appearance in relation to the allegations before Warrington Magistrates’ Court today.

In the case of Conor McQuade, the case has been sent to Liverpool Crown Court.
