A RUNCORN care worker has been shortlisted for a national award.

Phillip Gahan is a support worker at Community Integrated Care.

He is up for the national Support Worker Award at the Great British Care Awards.

The awards celebrate the cream of the crop in the social care sector across the UK.

Commenting on the shortlist news, Phillip said: “It's an honour to be shortlisted for the Support Worker award.

“When I joined Community Integrated Care, I was blown away by the amount of support and training I received, it made me realise just how skilled and specialised the role of a support worker is.

“I believe that bringing art and creativity to my role and looking outside the box when I've faced new challenges, has enhanced the support I provide.

“I've endeavoured to make the everyday exciting, entertaining and fun for the people I support. I'm so proud and grateful for the recognition.”

Samantha Brennan, Community Integrated Care’s managing director for the north west, said, “We are all incredibly proud of Phillip for being shortlisted for the Support Worker Award in then national finals.

“He’s a testament to our fantastic team at Holmdale, and we can’t wait to see what great things he will achieve next. He is such a committed and hard-working colleague and his creativity and proactive approach to support really shines through.”

The prestigious ceremony will take place in Birmingham this evening, Friday.
