THE family of Widnes supporter Pat Price, who passed away last week, have thanked fellow fans for their thoughts, prayers and messages of condolence.

Pat’s funeral takes place at St Bede’s Church, Widnes at 11am on Thursday, tomorrow, with a service at Widnes Crematorium at noon.

The procession passes the Select Security Stadium on its way to the church, with the wake taking place at the stadium’s Sports Bar where Pat sold thousands of programmes during her time as a longstanding volunteer of the club.

Pat’s son, Joseph has requested family flowers only, but said any donations people would like to make should be directed to Widnes Vikings, and the initiatives it runs in the community through Dream Maker.

Jospeh said: “Mum loved the club and she would have wanted any donations to be made to Widnes Vikings and the community projects they do, but she wouldn’t have minded if it goes to getting a new prop forward! That was what she was like!”

Meanwhile chief executive James Rule paid tribute to both Widnes and Warrington fans for their minutes applause.

“Both sets of fans were tremendous and the minutes applause was brilliantly observed by both sets of supporters. Both Widnes and Warrington fans really did Pat proud.

She means a lot to Widnes Vikings and she won’t be forgotten,” he said.
