WIDNES face another trip up the M6 on Saturday when they take on Vale of Lune at Powder House Lane.

It will be their fourth visit to Cumbria and the nearby surrounding area this year, and they will be hoping to improve on their playing record of won one, lost two from the previous three matches.

Vale are a much changed club these days , and recently pulled off a huge coup by securing the services of former England coach Brian Ashton who coached the National side from 2006 to 2008, to support new head coach Fergus Owens. They play a very open game – similar to that of their opponents – so, an exciting, high scoring game could be in prospect.

For Widnes, though, this is a vital game, and one which could provide them with the ideal platform for a run of really tough fixtures spilling over into the New Year against the in-form trio of Broughton Park, Warrington and Kirkby Lonsdale.

The game kicks off at 2.15pm.
