RUNCORN Linnets will this weekend look to maintain their push for the North West Counties League Premier Division title after a two-week break.

The inactivity has been caused by Linnets being ahead with their fixtures but Joey Dunn’s side hope to continue momentum from their storming finish to the 5-1 victory at Barnoldswick Town last time out – all their goals coming in the last 26 minutes of a game in which they had fallen behind.

Linnets now have only six league games remaining – three at home and three away. Visitors to the Millbank Linnets Stadium this Saturday (kick off 3pm) are Squires Gate in a quick turnaround from the corresponding away fixture.

Runcorn’s visit to the Blackpool-based club on Tuesday, March 10 saw Linnets held 1-1 despite leading through a Michael White header.

This was the second of two successive away draws which dented Linnets’ championship prospects.

Glossop North End are now in the driving seat for the one promotion place to Evo-Stik Division One.

Meanwhile, Runcorn Linnets Youth have reached the final of the North West Youth Alliance’s Division Two Cup at the first attempt.

They defeated Barnton 3-0 at the MLS on Sunday and await the winners of the tie involving Irlam and Daisy Hill.
