TERRY Spencer’s pro boxers Ricky Gorman, Leon Willings and John Edwardson are looking forward to a huge 2023 with some exciting fights and announcements to be made in January for all of the boxers, writes Nigel Spencer.

First on the calendar is a fight for big Ricky Gorman out at the Liverpool Olympia on March 18.

Gorman will be on a Vinco promotions show, then it’s straight on a plane with John Edo out to Atlanta where he will be fighting stateside.

Leon Willings is just waiting to make sure his hand is repaired after breaking it in his last fight, before starting what will be a big year for him.

Head trainer Terry Spencer explains that 2022 was a busy year for all the boxers, Gorman after training flat out all year had lots of set backs with fight dates getting cancelled at the last minute, but he did eventually make his much anticipated debut at Bolton stadium, against a tough opponent that many in the heavyweight division avoid.

Gorman produced a fantastic win after putting his opponent on the canvas in the second round, and has certainly made the heavyweight division take notice of this young gun coming out of the shadows.

Runcorn and Widnes World:

Leon Willing had a busy year with four fights. His last being against a tough Iranian international boxer in a 6 round contest that was an absolute war.

Willing broke his hand in the second round but despite this carried on, and even put his opponent down in the fifth only for him to climb the ropes back to his feet and manage to carry on.

Without a doubt this was Willing's toughest opponent to date and he has gone on to win and draw in his last two fights against top prospects, showing just how good Leon is.

Willing had some top sparring last year against world champion Liam Smith which shows he can mix it with the best. 2023 is going to be a huge year for him with the hand injury healing well.

Runcorn and Widnes World:

John Edwardson had a busy year as well, boxing at the Liverpool echo arena and at the Olympia.

Edwardson remains unbeaten and will be stepping up to 6 round fights in the new year. John has a huge following so his fights are always exciting with the crowd behind him.

Spencer has big plans for Edwardson in 2023 and with his following can always get a place on the big shows, backed with his work rate and stamina john has the potential to go a long way in his tough lightweight division and many will want to avoid him.

Edwardson currently stands at four fights and four wins.
