IN the early afternoon of Wednesday, April 4, I had the misfortune to fall when trying to cross a main road near Runcorn Shopping Centre.
Thankfully I simultaneously experienced some good fortune when a young male driver saw me fall, stopped his car and asked me to let him take me to the nearby Halton Hospital.
With my agreement he took me there, left me in the hands of the nurses in the urgent care department and quietly left.
Thankfully my injuries were not serious and were dealt with expertly and kindly by the nurses.
They have since twice re-dressed my injuries and soothed my injured pride by giving me a badge proclaiming ‘I have been very brave’.
I owe those lovely ladies and Halton Hospital a massive vote of thanks, but I am most grateful to the young man who helped me.
He is my very own good Samaritan.
Hoping that he reads this, I offer him my heartfelt thanks.
Whoever you are, young man, I hereby dub you my ‘knight of the road’.
