I READ in the World about a Widnes bus driver being suspended until June 18 after being caught using his mobile phone while driving.

What good is that? He has not been punished at all.

He should have been banned for 12 months, fined £1,000 and had nine points on his licence.

The same should apply to all drivers who abuse the law and use a mobile phone while at the wheel.

I also read a report that said police in Runcorn had stopped 16 motorists in four hours who were using a mobile phone while driving.

How many of these drivers will be prosecuted?

There should be no warning for doing it.

They should be penalised straight away.

Don’t slag off pensioners for bad driving. These people are the bad drivers on the roads, not us.

I don’t have a mobile phone.
