IN the Runcorn and Widnes World dated July 27 you published a letter headed ‘parking plea’ from Claire Dawes, head teacher of Westfield Primary School in Runcorn.

School traffic and parking is an increasing problem right across Halton, which the council does not seem willing to tackle head on, unlike other north west councils.

I am a resident of Spinney Avenue, Hough Green, Widnes.

I live opposite the only primary school in Widnes that is situated in a cul-de-sac.

Long suffering residents approached their local councillors over two years ago to seek help with traffic congestion and parking in Spinney Avenue.

This is not helped by parents who inconsiderately drop off or pick up their children, assuming they have every right to do what they need to do to in order to deliver their children to the school – totally ignoring safety, welfare and respect.

To date, after meetings with councillors and one meeting with the head teacher of the school, lots of residents have rejected suggestions and solutions and very little to resolve this matter has been achieved.

I would like school traffic congestion and parking in Halton to be investigated.

You never know, it might spur the council into action and change parents’ attitudes.
